Debbie Sternbach
Debbie Sternbach, artistic director of the Bay Area Rhythm Tap Company, is also the owner
and producer of Fascinating Rhythm Productions, a company specializing in professional,
customized dance entertainment for both national and international clients. She has created
gorgeously costumed opening acts for such headliners as Julio Iglesias, Little Richard and
Wynona. Her spectacular shows and dancers have appeared on stage, film and television, with
clients ranging from Visa International to the MIKI Corporation of Japan.
As a tap instructor and performer for over 20 years, Debbie has taught at dance conventions,
workshops and studios throughout the country, sharing her vibrant choreography and meticulous
technique. Her students range from young children to tap teachers, professional dancers and Las
Vegas performers.
Debbie has performed both nationally and internationally, in such places as London, Las Vegas,
Reno, Los Angeles and throughout California and New England. As a soloist, she has performed
in shows with such tap artists as Sam Weber, Dianne Walker, the Nicholas Brothers, Cholly
Atkins, and dancers from “Noise Funk” and "Riverdance" (London). She has shared the stage
with Tommy Tune at the San Francisco Opera House, and she appeared as a featured dancer
for the 20th anniversary show of San Francisco’s “Beach Blanket Babylon.”
For several years, Debbie performed in partnership with tap virtuoso Sam Weber, recreating the
role of Eleanor Powell in such classic tap routines as “Begin the Beguine” and “Jukebox Dance.”
Together, they have performed in London, Reno and throughout the Bay Area. Debbie is also
the only woman to have performed (in full costume) Steve Condos’ improvisational choreography
from the “Indian Dance” duet, with Sam dancing the amazing choreography of Nick Condos.
A former student of the late, great Tap Master Stanley Kahn, she has also studied privately or
taken workshops with such Tap Masters as Eddie Brown, Steve Condos, Honi Coles, Gregory
Hines and Savion Glover, among others. For over 20 years, Debbie has worked privately with
Tap Master Sam Weber, whose choreography continues to challenge, inspire and amaze her.
